On the heels of her funky hit single, “Nightlife”becoming a Top 5 Urban and Top 10 Commercial Pop hit in the UK and becoming her 19th Top 20 Hot Dance Club Play on Billboard since her solo debut in 1987; dance music legend and Grammy-winning pop icon, Jody Watley continues to master her career. Jody’s individuality and style in Dance and R&B music is reflected in her newly released video to her classic dance anthem. The “Queen of Cool” has, again, revived the good feel of music with the Dave Doyle video remix to “Nightlife” which paints a picture that evokes an uplifting emotion, with the spirit of the “nightlife” of people loving to dance, to feel the groove, and simply have fun. “Nightlife” was shot on location at the hottest night spot in the country, Giorgio’s (named in a recent article by The NY Times as “The City of Dancing Angels”) on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. Filmed by Steve Willis with edit and motion graphics by Ray Easmon of the UK and produced by Jody Watley; “Nightlife” features a cameo by Andy Warhol legend Joe Dallesandro, some of Los Angeles’ top freestyle dancers including The Waackers, choreographer Roseo McCoy (Britney Spears, Usher, etc), and famed Giorgio’s owner, Bryan Rabin recently profiled in the New York Times, and The Hollywood Reporter. Damage
R&B boyband Damage burst into the UK pop scene in the mid-nineties with tunes such as Love II Love and Forever. Management fallouts and crippling debt left a bitter taste for these former pin ups however. Rahsaan J Bromfield recalls: “You could see the punches being thrown left right and centre. (I said to the band) Don’t call me I don’t want anything to do with you again.” Love might not be guaranteed for this reunion, but will it be worth the wait? Eternal
Dubbed as the UK's answer to En Vogue, Eternal stormed the charts with their debut album Always and Forever. Despite their runaway success, the band were plagued by rumours of tantrums and turmoil. After Louise Redknapp and Kelle Bryan quit the band, sisters Easther and Vernette continued as a duo until splitting in 2000. Will the Eternal ladies decide to stay, or will the pressure prove too great? 3T
Many presumed that coming from the Jackson family would be a guarantee for success. But brothers Taj, TJ and Tayll have dodged rumours and family tragedy throughout their musical career. Performing since the late 1980s, 3T were big names in the UK music scene in the mid-nineties. They should have been global stars, but the platinum-selling artists had to deal with personal tragedies, whilst their careers suffered and family members were plagued by allegations. Can the brothers leave their family history well and truly behind them? 5th StoryIn an exciting twist to The Big Reunion 2014, we introduce the super group 5th Story. The new band, formed of solo artists Dane Bowers, Kenzie, Kavana, Gareth Gates and Adam Rickitt will see the members bring unique insights into the fickle world of fame. Musician Dane Bowers found fame as part of chart-topping group Another Level. Their hits included Be Alone No More and Freak Me. After the band split in 2000, Dane went to score a number one hit with Victoria Beckham as part of UK garage act True Steppers. Gareth Gates shot to stardom when he reached the final of Pop Idol, losing out to Will Young. Despite his image as a teenage pin-up and his multi-million singles sales, it wasn't long before scandal hit Gareth's career. Kavana released two albums in the late nineties with hit singles including Thank You, Special Kind of Something and I Can Make You Feel Good. The hit machine was stopped in it's tracks after drugs took hold of his life. Kavana now confesses to living out of a suitcase. James MacKenzie, known as Kenzie enjoyed fame as part of the 10 piece hip hop group Blazin' Squad. As a child star, Kenzie reveals all on being number one in the charts on Sunday and going back to school on Monday. Former Coronation Street star Adam Rickitt entered the pop arena in 1999 with the hit single Breathe Again. Adam will be giving candid recollections of his depression and bulimia during this time. As individuals, 5th Story have a combined total of 27 top ten hits including five number ones, alongside Mobo, Smash Hits and MTV awards under their belts. Will this be enough to revive their chart topping success? A1
A1 sold out arenas during the late 90s and early 2000's as they dominated the charts. With two number one singles and eight top 10 hits, it seemed that the band's success would never end. A tragic incident resulting in four fans being fatally crushed eventually lead to a band split. Ready or not, it's time for the band to face their demons for The Big Reunion. Girl Thing
Girl Thing have experienced the dizzying heights and horrendous lows of the music industry. Destined for careers as great as The Spice Girls, the band had the Eifel Tower hired out as part of a million pound promotional campaign. After their first two singles failed to reach the top spot, their third single Pure and Simple was given to Popstars winners Hear'Say. Simon Cowell has since said the band was his biggest mistake. Band member and wife of Westlife's Kian Egan, Jodi Albert confesses: “This reunion for Girl Thing could be wonderful or it could be a nightmare.” Can the girls get back on top? Dance music legend and Grammy-winning pop icon Jody Watley is still grooving in 2014. She first made her name as a Soul Train dancer and original member of post-disco group Shalamar and today, she brings to you a bit of nostalgic funk perfect for the (sophisticated) pre-club turn-up. Check her video for "Nightlife," filmed in Los Angeles at Giorgio's. And if you're in Northeast U.S., start your own Soul Train line to shake off the toddler temperatures. http://www.vibe.com/article/premiere-jody-watley-revives-disco-nightlife-video Post by Jody Watley.
